Unfiltered's Summer Cocktails
Summer is in full swing. The season of pool parties and baking in the sun deserves only the most refreshing concoctions to help you cool off. Our team has crafted three unique cocktails that'll be sure to be a crowd pleaser and help you beat the heat.
Soju and Soda - Gui Jaroschy - Founder & Senior Partner
"No better way to cool off at a bbq or backyard gathering than with a Soju and Soda. I love all the fruity flavors that Soju comes in and there couldn't be an easier drink to make: Big glass or plastic cup of ice, 3oz of your favorite flavored (or unflavored Soju), 4oz or to top with cold club soda. At an average of around 16% ABV you get all the cocktail you want and need with a little less buzz. My current summer favorite."
Soju & Soda
3 oz - Soju
4oz or to top - Club Soda
Garnish as you see fit
Mighty Mango Punch - Josue Gonzalez - Junior Partner
"Summer in Miami means there's an abundance of mangos dropping from all the mango trees. I have friends and neighbors that don't know what to do with so many mangos they are always trying to give them away since theres often to many to eat before they go bad. I recommend making a delicious Mango Punch! This is great to make in large quantities for parties and BBQs or to take to the beach."
Use 3-4 mangos depending on the size, you want to peel the skin, remove the seed in the middle and cut the mango into chunks so that you can add it to a blender and make a mango puree. I recommend adding a touch of water to loosen the puree if too thick and make sure to strain the puree once blended so you get any pulp or chunks out.
Batched Mighty Mango Punch
750 ml - Bacardi Mango Chilli Rum (or Blanco Tequila)
500 ml or 16 oz - freshly squeezed Lime Juice
1 L or 33 oz - Mango Puree
250 ml or 8oz - Cinnamon Syrup (use jalapeño syrup for a kick)
Combine all ingredients in a large container/punchbowl/cooler, mix thoroughly.
Pour over ice to enjoy and if you want to stretch this punch you can top it with something bubbly like soda water, Ginger ale, champagne or even a light beer.
Mezcal Mojito - Robert Eldridge - Consulting Project Manager
"You can’t go wrong with simple variations of classics. Mojitos are already great summer cocktails, so are margaritas. Combining the two by using mezcal in place of rum in a classic mojito is my go to summer refresher. I love agave spirits for their complexity and earthy flavor. Pair that with fresh mint, citrus, and soda to stay cool on even the hottest summer day."
Mezcal Mojito
2 oz - Mezcal
1oz - Fresh Lime Juice
0.5oz - Simple Syrup
Mint leaves (Remember to smack and muddle)
Soda Water to top
There you have it - Three expert made recipes that pair perfectly with the sun and sand. Stay cool this summer, and please remember to wear sunscreen. Cheers.
